The sanitary installations were modernised at the former Kursaal Hotel Allegro - now Swissôtel Kursaal Bern. For example, walk-in showers were installed. During the project, the greatest challenges of the project were the restricted preparation time, the high demands for precision and ensuring the hotel's operation could continue to run smoothly.

The Swissôtel Kursaal Bern is a venerable institution and offers visitors a beautiful view of Bern's old town. In addition to the casino and restaurants, the congress centre on the Kornhausbrücke also houses the Hotel Allegro, which opened in 1998.. The 171 hotel rooms were renovated in stages up until the end of 2020. The Bouygues Energies & Services team in the Bern region was responsible for renovating the sanitary facilities.

Year 2020

The sanitation equipment of the hotel's rooms no longer met contemporary standards. So, instead of bathtubs, rooms have now been equipped with walk-in showers. The design with glass walls separating the shower area from the hotel room sets new standards in design while meeting the demands of the guest segment.

Daniel Wenger, head of the sanitation department at the Bern site, was able to win the contract to renovate the sanitation systems after intensive negotiations shortly before Christmas 2019. After just two weeks of preparation, the team of project manager Marcel Grieder and on-site supervising technician Manfred Kurtz had to start setting up the construction site in January 2020. Directly afterwards, the demolition of the first 36 rooms began. In a two-day cycle, work proceeded with eight rooms each time. The energetic timetable and high demands on precision developed into a major challenge for all the trades involved, especially as the on-going hotel operations were not to be impaired. The spread of the coronavirus tested the team's ability to meet the deadlines even further. The goal was for the work to be completed in December 2020. The Hotel Allegro then became the Swissôtel Kursaal Bern, which now shines in new splendour - thanks in particular to the commitment of our employees.
