Solution for long-term improvement of operational safety in alarm situations

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions is the world’s leading provider of high-quality sealing solutions. The Swedish company forms part of the international Trelleborg Group, and over the past 50 years has developed a portfolio of products covering essentially all industrial sealing applications. At its site in Stein am Rhein, the Sealing Solutions division manufactures complex, high-precision mouldings as well as two- and multi-component solutions. These are used in applications throughout healthcare, the automotive industry and food industry. Trelleborg and Bouygues Energies & Services have worked together for many years, beginning with the implementation of an Ascotel 2065 communications system and New Voice MobiCall alarm server.

The task

On behalf of Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, the ICT specialists at Bouygues Energies & Services opened up several business areas using the flexible MiVoice 400 unified communications solution. The aim was to implement a solution that would improve operational safety in the long term. Implementation of the MobiCall alarm server created a reliable solution for all technical alarm input contacts. Using a WAGO controller, this solution also allows lone-working members of staff to be located. A DECT infrastructure was integrated across the entire premises, with the aim of sending technical alarms and personal alarms to technical personnel as well as externally to Certas in the form of voicemail, messaging and text. Activation of personal alarms is possible via Aastra DECT mobile handsets with a red button or emergency number, and also communicates information on the person activating the alarm as well as their precise location.

The solution

Thanks to many years of cooperation based on trust with the customer, Bouygues Energies & Services was able to keep refining the already existing communications system and expand it with the aim of achieving ultimate system stability and ensuring safe and reliable alerts for technical and personal alarms. This is where the MobiCall alarm server from New Voice is used. The alarm server was installed on a new appliance server in the form of the new 11.0 release. Personal alarms activated via Aastra DECT mobile handsets are signalled to a defined group of people together with all details of the alarm activation, the person who activated it and the location, with alerts communicated via different media: DECT and GSM telephone calls, messaging and text. The Certas external escalation centre is also alerted. Detailed reporting records all actions, personal alarms and any system failures from all areas.


Different escalation scenarios ensure that no damage is caused to people or technical equipment. Administration of the overall alarm solution and the communications platform lies in the hands of the customer. Thanks to the direct contact with a representative at Bouygues Energies & Services, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions can have new requirements formulated and implemented quickly and easily, and at any time.

The centralised architecture incorporates all critical components of this communications platform. Regular updates of the entire communications solution and alarm server ensure that the customer always has updated infrastructure at their command. Expanding the alarm server and communications solution is quick and easy to do.
